Institutionen för fysik och astronomi inbjuder härmed alla intresserade till docentföreläsning i ämnet fysik. Titel: ”Is Hydrogen the Sustainable Energy Carrier of the Future?”

Ordförande: Prof. Olle Eriksson

Docenturnämndens representant: Prof. Stephan Pomp

Föreläsningen kommer att ges på engelska.

The lecture will be held in English.

Sammanfattning:

“Hydrogen is a prospective energy carrier for the development of a renewable, secure and environmentally friendly world energy matrix. This is mainly due to its abundance, uniform distribution throughout the Earth’s surface and benign oxidation product - water. Furthermore, it can be produced from renewable energy sources such as biomass, geothermal, wind and solar. However, there still are a number of hurdles to be overcome in order to scale-up such an approach and this constitutes an intensive research field.

Bridging basic concepts from physics and chemistry, this lecture will address the following questions: (i) How and why to produce hydrogen from solar photon energy? In this process, the photon energy is converted into chemical energy and carried by molecular hydrogen. (ii) Will it be feasible to meet all the hydrogen storage requirements in the transportation sector? Here, the hydrogen (energy) storage methods in solid-state materials will be discussed with emphasis on the solid-gas interaction thermodynamics. Furthermore, an outlook of this research field will be provided.“

The lecture, which is a teaching test for those who applied to be admitted as an associate professor, should be accessible for students and others with knowledge at undergraduate level in the subject, but may also be of interest to a wider audience. The lecture will lasts 45 minutes and be followed questions and discussion and will be held in English.

Välkomna!
