Please join the Uppsala University Alumni Chapter, SF/Bay Area for a speaker event with Uppsala University Alumna Annika Törnqvist.
Annika holds a bachelor degree in Economics from Uppsala University, and she has lived in California for more than 15 years. She has vast experience from working in the media sector, both in Sweden and US, and she has also been the author of several books. She is currently the Digital Director at Sonoma Media Investments (SMI). SMI owns The Press Democrat, which won the Pulitzer Prize for their coverage of the huge wildfires north of San Francisco in October, 2017.
Annika will talk about successful strategies for surviving at a media company in the US (if you do), including her thoughts on Swedish leadership vs American. She will share with us memories from those terrifying and intense weeks of October 2017, when there were wildfires burning down houses just 10 minutes away from her office, which would later lead to a Pulitzer Prize, the highest award in American journalism.
This event will be open for everyone with an interest in Swedish culture. Swedish "Glögg" and "Lussefika" will be served (drinks and sweet bread).
