Privacy appears to be a very important issue today when ICT permeates more and more aspects of our life...

Mainly this is understood as a risk of breaching the privacy of persons, and possibly the privacy of groups, organizations, corporations and states. If we make an effort to describe the nature of privacy we can easily and rather fast come to the conclusion that privacy is not only something that has to be protected. Although this is important, it seems that privacy sometimes has to be intervened in order to satisfy important interests and values, for example, the need for correct information.

About the presenter: Iordanis Kavathatzopoulos is a professor at Department of Information Technology, Division of Visual Information and Interaction.

This seminar is part of “The Glass Room Experience”, an exhibition about our lives online. It will be exposed during 28 January - 1 February (in association with the Data Privacy Day) at some of Uppsala University's libraries.

During these days, we will also hand out Data Detox-kits and organize different seminars and lectures according to the theme. Don’t miss this!
