A seminar dedicated to the opportunities and challenges of using social media for academic outreach. What can we do to increase the impact of our outreach and reduce the risks? How can we learn from successful role models? Meet Professor Agnes Wold, Professor Ashok Swain and Professor David Sumpter in a panel discussion about academic outreach via social media.
Agnes Wold, Professor and Chief Physician at the Department of Infectious Diseases, Gothenburg University and new honorary doctor of the Faculty of Science and Technology at Uppsala university. She uses her experience as a medical doctor to educate the general public in Sweden on topics related to health and science. Her contribution via various forms of media has has a particularly strong impact during the covid-19 epidemic.
Ashok Swain, Professor at the Department of Peace and Conflict Research at Uppsala University uses his insights in peace and conflict research to inform the world about current political developments and the rise of populism, especially in India, Sri Lanka, and Ethiopia.
David Sumpter, Professor at Department of Information Technology, at Uppsala University applies mathematics to better understand the world around us, especially the game of football, where he has worked with top teams including Hammarby, Barcelona, Ajax and the English FA.
